OrangeAccess (OA) Overview
OrangeAccess (OA) is Syracuse University’s new identity and access management system. While it replaces the legacy FAST application, OA goes well beyond FAST by providing a modern, secure, and streamlined way for faculty, staff, and students to request and approve access to many University systems — including applications that were never included in FAST due to its limitations.
With OA, users can request access to applications and roles, and managers or designated approvers can review and act on those requests. OA improves the access request process by making it easier to use, more transparent, and aligned with University security practices.
✨ Vision: OrangeAccess is designed to be the University’s single hub for access requests across all major systems, supporting a secure and efficient experience for every user.
Initial Release (October 28, 2025)
The first release of OrangeAccess will focus on replacing the FAST request process for the following systems:
MySlice (PeopleSoft Portal)
Campus Solutions (CS)
Human Resources / Payroll (HCM)
Financials (FSCM)
Future releases will expand to include additional systems and access types.
Who Uses OA?
End Users: Faculty and staff requesting access to University systems.
Approvers: Managers and system owners who review and decide on access requests.
IT & Security Teams: Supporting access policies, monitoring compliance, and maintaining the system.
What Happens to FAST?
FAST is being phased out as OrangeAccess (OA) takes over its functions. Beginning with the October release, all requests for MySlice, Campus Solutions (CS), Human Resources/Payroll (HCM), and Financials (FSCM) must be submitted through OA.
Over the next six months, the remaining applications will be migrated from FAST into OA. Once the migration is complete, FAST will be retired and its data archived.
