    This page answers common questions about using OrangeAccess (OA) for access requests and approvals.


    General

    What is OrangeAccess?
    OrangeAccess (OA) is Syracuse University’s identity and access management system. It replaces the legacy FAST application and provides a modern way to request, approve, and review access to University systems.

    What happened to FAST?
    FAST is being phased out. Starting in October 2025, requests for MySlice, Campus Solutions, HR/Payroll, and Financials must be submitted through OA. Over the next six months, other systems will migrate to OA. Once migration is complete, FAST will be retired and its data archived.

    Who can use OrangeAccess?
    All faculty and staff can submit requests. Managers, application/data owners, and governance groups serve as approvers.

    How do I request access for myself?
    Use the Request for Myself option in the Request Center. See [How to Submit a Request for Myself].

    How do I request access for someone else?
    Managers can use Request for My Team for direct reports. Anyone with delegation can use Request for Others to request access for colleagues. See [How to Submit a Request for My Team] or [How to Submit a Request for Others].

    Can I request access for multiple people at once?
    Yes. OrangeAccess allows you to select and request access for more than one identity at a time. However, bulk uploads or mass requests (for example, an entire department at once) are not supported.

    How long should approvals take?
    Most requests are reviewed and approved within one business day, depending on the approvers’ availability.

    • Manager approvals typically occur the same day.

    • Application or data owner approvals may take longer if additional review is required.
      If a request has not progressed for more than one business day, check the Pending Requests tile for its current status or contact the oahelp queue for help.


    Approvals

    How will I know if I need to approve something?
    You’ll receive an email notification when a request is assigned to you. You can also check the Access Requests to Review tile on the OA home page.

    What happens if I’m out of the office?
    You can set up Work Reassignment to delegate approvals temporarily. If you’re unable to do this yourself, submit a ticket to the ERP Security Team through the ENTSEC OT Jira queue.


    Access

    How long does it take for access to be granted after approval?
    It depends on the system. Some changes are immediate, others process overnight. See [What Happens After Access Is Approved].

    I was approved, but I don’t see my new access in MySlice. What should I do?
    Clear your browser cache and cookies, then log back in. The MySlice systems are especially sensitive to browser caching. If you still don’t see your access after one business day, contact the Help Desk.

    How do I remove access I no longer need?
    Go to My Access and click Remove Access for the item you want to revoke. See [How to Review/Remove My Access].

    Can I remove access for my employees?
    Yes. Managers can review and remove access for their direct reports under My Team. See [How to Review/Remove Access for My Team].

    What happens if more information is needed for my request?
    Sometimes, additional details are required to complete your request. If this happens, you’ll receive an email with instructions and a link to a form (usually in Jira) where you can provide the requested information. See [Providing Additional Information for a Request] for step-by-step guidance.

    Future Features

    What are certifications?
    Certifications are scheduled reviews where managers and owners confirm or revoke access for their users. Certifications will be introduced in Summer 2026. See [Certifications (Coming Soon)].

    Will bulk requests ever be supported?
    This feature is being evaluated for a future release.
