How to print an 18x24” drawing on a sheet of Bristol heavyweight paper

Important! Before sending your print, take your sheet to the plot monitor. They will pause the queue and load your paper.

Important! The Bristol sheets are actually 19x24”. Do not cut them to 18”. We don’t permit cut sheets in Yoshi2. You can use the sheet as is and trim the sheet AFTER the print is done.

  1. Add your NetID to the name of your file, i.e., trsayen-perspective01.pdf. This makes it easier for the plot monitor to identify your print file in the queue.

  2. Open your PDF in Acrobat, not a web browser like Edge or Chrome.

  3. An 18x24 sheet feed prints best when the paper is loaded as PORTRAIT, not landscape.
Therefore, in Acrobat, rotate your print on screen so that it’s in portrait orientation.

Rotate your print if needed so that it’s in portrait:

  4. Bring up the print settings. Choose ARCH-Yoshi2-Postscript, then click Properties.

  5. Under Properties, click Custom and set your print size to 18” width and 24” length. Click OK.

  6. Change Paper Source to Single Sheet.
Change Paper Type to Heavyweight Coated Paper.

    1. This paper type setting matches what the plot monitor will use for your paper on Yoshi2.

    2. As soon as you select Heavyweight, the print quality will switch to Speed. Move the slider back to ‘Quality'. (If you don’t switch it, you may see banding or lines in your print.)
