    Getting SUMail set up in Outlook for Mac

    1. Install Outlook

      The desktop Outlook app is available for students, faculty, and staff as part of Office365. You can install Outlook by logging in to portal.office.com using your SU email address and password. Once logged in, click on the "Install Office" button in the top-right corner. This is a large file, so it may take some time to download and install.

    2. Launch Outlook

      Outlook can be launched from Finder by double-clicking the Microsoft Outlook icon in the Applications Folder, or by typing Microsoft Outlook in Spotlight at the top right of the screen, or by clicking on the Launchpad in the dock find the Microsoft Outlook icon and click it to launch it. 




    3. Add your SUMail account

      When launching Outlook for the first time you will be prompted to set up an account. Enter your full syr.edu email (NetID@syr.edu) and password on the next screen.  

       4. If prompted, authenticate with two-factor. 




      5.   Once you have completed signing in you will see a confirmation message that your account has been added and you may begin using Outlook. 

    Congratulations! Your SUMail is all set up!



    Getting SUMail setup for Apple Mail

    Steps shown below are using macOS 11.2 (Big Sur), your steps may vary visually depending on your operating system.

    1. Go to the Mail.app




    2. In Mail, choose Mail > Add Account

    3. Select Microsoft Exchange

    4. Enter your full SUMail email address (NetID@syr.edu)





    5.  Choose Sign In


      click sign in button

    6.  Add your SUMail (NetID) password

    7.  If you are prompted for Multifactor Authentication (MFA or 2FA), follow the on screen prompts to receive verification, otherwise skip this step


      approve the sign in request with the default method

    8.  Once you're logged in, choose what you would like to sync and then press Done.

      Click done to finish setting up account

      Congratulations! Your SUMail is all set up!
