Automations
Blackboard Automations feature allows instructors to set up conditions (triggers) that automatically prompt the system to send personalized feedback messages to students. Currently, you can configure the system to send congratulatory messages for high scores or supportive messages for those who may need encouragement.
View Automations
In the virtual assistant menu, select Automations, then select View Automations.
+ New Automation
Blackboard displays your current list of automations. If the list is empty, select the + New Automation button to get started.
Automation Gallery
The automation gallery offers two choices: Configure and Send congratulatory message for high scores, or Configure and Send supportive message for lower scores.
This lets instructors provide timely, personalized feedback without sending manual messages, saving time and increasing student engagement.
Automation Trigger
The automation trigger defines the action to be taken When a grade is posted.
You begin by making the item selection to choose which graded assessment the automation monitors. The system then allows you to Limit by attained grade. Use the on/off toggle for this feature, and if set to on, define the grade criteria by entering the specific percentage for the Attained grade definition.
Action to be Taken
In this section, you will configure the message to be sent by selecting Review/Edit course message. The system provides a default message—either congratulatory or supportive—which you can customize. You can modify this message for all users, making the content specific and relevant to the trigger data defined earlier.
Review and Finalize
The final step allows you to review all your automation settings, including the trigger conditions and the customized message. Once you confirm the configuration is correct, select Save to activate the automation and begin sending automated, personalized feedback to your students.
