    Course Calendar

Add your course schedule, office hours, assignment due dates, or other important events to the course calendar display for all users enrolled in the course.

    Table of Contents

    • 1 Blackboard Course Calendar
    • 2 Qwickly Course Tools - Create Event (Calendar Item)

    Blackboard Course Calendar

    View the Calendar

On the top navigation menu of your course, select the calendar tab in the upper left.

You can display your calendar in schedule view or  due dates view. Switch views by toggling the selector icon in the upper left of the calendar. Schedule view is the default.

Schedule view shows all events on the course calendar, including course meeting times, other course events, and assignment due dates. Selecting "Day" in the upper right will display scheduled events one day at a time. Days of the current week can be seen at the top of the screen - click on a date to see the full course schedule for that date. Selecting "Month" in the upper right will show an overview of the course schedule for the entire month.

Due dates view shows only calendar items with due dates such as assignments, tests, discussions, etc, in a chronological list. It will not display events with no 'due date,' such as regular course meetings. Clicking on an item in the list will open that item, just like opening it from the course content area. Items that are hidden from students in the course content area will also be hidden on the course calendar. To change a due date, you must edit the content item directly; due dates cannot be modified from the calendar.

    Add Item to the Calendar

To add a new item to the course calendar, click on the  icon in the upper right to add a new item to calendar.

Select "Add Event" to create a one-time event, such as an exam review session

Select "Edit Course Schedule" to create a recurring weekly event(s) for regular course meetings, either in person or virtual

Select "Add Office Hours" to create a recurring weekly event(s) for office hours (or another recurring event outside of course meetings)

    Add Event

Selecting "Add Event" will open the new event settings panel.

Enter the name for the new event at the top - this is how the event will be displayed on the course calendar.

Under "Details and Information", add start and end dates/times. Optionally, you can mark the event as "all day" for the selected date(s).

Selecting "Repeat Event" will open the recurring event settings options (see next section).

Optionally, you can enter a location (either a campus location or a Zoom link or other virtual location) and a description for the event.

When finished, click "Save" at the bottom of the panel.

    Edit Course Schedule

Selecting "Edit Course Schedule" will open the course schedule settings panel.

If you have not entered a course schedule before, click the icon to add a course meeting time(s).

To edit an existing course schedule, click the three dot menu to the right of the schedule event.

Enter a Nickname for your course schedule - this is how course meetings will be displayed on the course calendar.

Then, enter the date of the first meeting, and the meeting start and end times.

Meetings can repeat every 1-10 days, weeks, or months, i.e. every 10 days, or every week, or every 3 months. Additionally, weekly meetings can be set to take place on one or more days each week, i.e. every week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Set the schedule to end after a set number of occurrences, i.e. after 15 weeks, or on a specified date.

Optionally, you can enter a location (either a campus location or a Zoom link or other virtual location)
