Playposit is an interactive video platform that allows educators to embed various types of interactive elements on YouTube, Vimeo and Kaltura videos to enhance student engagement and learning.

Bulbs are interactive videos created in PlayPosit by embedding various types of interactions within the video. These interactions include features like multiple-choice questions, open-ended prompts, and web embeds. By providing real-time feedback and tracking student responses, PlayPosit helps create an active learning environment and fosters better understanding and retention of the material.

Building PlayPosit Bulbs

Bulbs are created in Playposit before they are deployed. Videos can be linked from Kaltura, Youtube, or Vimeo.

To create a bulb go to PlayPosit then to the "My Bulbs" are from the left side menu then click "add new bulb".
Add a video from Kaltura, Youtube, or Vimeo. Multiple videos can be added to a bulb.
Once a video is linked, interactions can be added to the video at any time point. Any of the interaction choices can be used.

Get Started: Creator Challenge

Learn interactive video design in PlayPosit, where you will complete 3 short modules in just 20-minutes each! The entire challenge can be completed in under an hour— however you have the option to save and pick it up at a later time!

The certificate-based challenge makes it simple to level up your skills.

To get started you will need:

3-short Kaltura or YouTube “how-to” or informational videos
Make sure they are under 2 to 3 minutes each
2 of the videos must-have speakers (Ted Talks are good examples)
During the practice - you will need to create 2-3 questions per video

Add PlayPosit LTI Link to Blackboard Course

Instructors can add PlayPosit to the Blackboard Course Content page, by creating a link through the content market.

Select the plus sign
Select Content Market

Select Plus Sign and Select Content Market

Select the PLUS icon on the PlayPosit tile from the content market.

PlayPosit will auto-populate on course content page
Launch PlayPosit to set link in course

Instructors may create this link in any Blackboard course and the area need not be available to students. This checklist can also help you start building and deploying PlayPosit Bulbs.

Edit PlayPosit LTI Link

Instructors can Edit the following PlayPosit Link items:

Assignment Name
Assignment Description
Optionally Create as Gradebook Item and add grading settings
All grading adjustments must be made prior to learners starting the assignment

Set Link - Assign Bulb to PlayPosit LTI Link

Select a bulb from your bulb library and set the link as your PlayPosit link in your Blackboard course. If you do not have any bulbs, refer to the Build Bulbs section or check-out the Creator Challenge.

Launch the PlayPosit LTI link on your Blackboard course content page
Select Set Link
Select My Bulbs
Locate your Bulb
Select Set Bulb Link (Blackboard “BB” icon)
Select Learner Experience: Self Paced (or Broadcast)
Select Link
Select Preview to review Bulb

Activate PlayPosit Bulb

PlayPosit Bulbs must be activated in order to be deployed in your Blackboard Course. When copying Bulbs from previous courses make sure to Preview Bulbs before opening your course to students for the semester:

Monitor Student and User Activity

Once a bulb is deployed, the interactions can be monitored by accessing the bulb.

Launch the PlayPosit LTI link on your Blackboard course content page
Select Monitor
Grade Interactions, Access Bulb Analytics, and/or View Individual Learner Attempts

Troubleshooting Tips

Students

Issue reported by students:

Blue screen in PlayPosit
Error Screen:
- “There is no content linked to this assignment. The content link has not been setup by the instructor or it has been deleted. Please contact your instructor

Instructors

Launch the PlayPosit LTI link that was reported with the error
Confirm that you have Set the Link in your course
- The PlayPosit Manage Link window will show the bulb name assigned to your course and you do not need to do anything further
- If the PlayPosit Manage Link window shows Set Link, select Set Link

If you have not already - this may be a good time to double check your bulbs, they can be tested in student preview Student Preview | Enter Student Preview
