VMware Workstation and Fusion
What is VMware?
VMware Workstation (Windows/Linux) and VMware Fusion (Mac) allow you to run multiple operating systems on your computer at the same time. This is useful for:
Testing software on different operating systems
Running Windows on a Mac (or vice versa)
Network and security labs
Software development
Course projects requiring specific OS environments
Good News: VMware Workstation Pro and Fusion Pro are now completely free for personal use, including for students!
Getting Started
1. Create a Free Account
Register at the Broadcom Support Portal using your Syracuse University email address.
2. Download the Software
For Mac users:
Download VMware Fusion Pro (for Personal Use)
For Windows/Linux users:
Download VMware Workstation Pro (for Personal Use)
3. Install and Activate
Run the installer
When prompted for a license, select "Use for Personal Use"
No license key required!
