When selecting a computer, keep the following key guidelines in mind:
1. Buy the best computer your budget allows
Technology demands increase as you progress through your degree. A laptop purchased today should be capable of meeting your academic needs not just now, but through the next four years.
2. Select a commercial-grade device
College life can be tough on laptops. Choose a model designed for durability and long-term use.
Apple: MacBook Air or Pro
Dell: Latitude or Precision series
Lenovo: Thinkpad or X1 series
3. Add a 3- or 4-year warranty
Out-of-warranty repairs often cost up to half the price of a new laptop and usually take much longer to complete.
4. Include accidental damage protection
Accidents happen. Spills, drops, and everyday wear can cause costly damage. Accidental damage coverage helps protect your investment throughout your time on campus.
