*The following directions are to connect an Arts and Sciences managed printer to a personally-owned Macintosh computer connected to the SU network via AirOrangeX.

*Please verify that you have installed the driver of the corresponding printer before adding the printer in System Settings.

*List of printers available to personally owned computers https://su-jsm.atlassian.net/l/cp/8qSQNJ0S

    1. Under System Settings, Printers & Scanners, click on the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax... button.

    2. From the Add Printer window right-click (Control+Click) on the top title area (anywhere with open grey space) and select Customize Toolbar...

    3. Drag the Advanced (round gear) icon up to the Add Printer title bar and click Done.

    4. Click on the Advanced button, then drop down "Canon CUPS Office Network" Type to "Windows printer via spoolss".

    5. In the URL window enter the full printer name. Example: smb://printers.ad.syr.edu/AS-CSG-HEROY-103A. In the Name field change the Name to match the queue. Example: AS-CSG-HEROY-103A

In the Location field, enter the building and room number the printer is in.

You can find the printer name labeled on the actual printer or in this list https://su-jsm.atlassian.net/l/cp/8qSQNJ0S.

    6. Under the Choose a Driver menu, click on Select Software...

    7. To search, type in the model number of the printer you're installing into the Filter search bar.

    8. Find your printer model, select it in the list, hit OK.

    9. Click Add

    10. If/when prompt to select what features are installed, please do so. Then click OK.

Click Configure if prompted and setup and optional settings (extra trays, duplex, etc.). Once you hit OK your printer should be installed.

    10. When you print for the first time you will be prompted to authenticate. In the name field please enter “netid” without the quotes then your SU password. It's recommended to click "Remember password in keychain" to avoid authenticating every time you print.

You are now ready to print!
