      Rode Mic Guide

      Aug 12, 2022

If you are in a room that is not outfitted with a teaching station and built-in mic/speakers, the Rode mic kit can let Zoom participants hear what is going on in the room (such as class discussions).

To reserve a Rode kit, email archit@syr.edu.

      • 2 Troubleshooting

      Steps

      1. Plug the receiver into your computer using the USB-C cable and power it on (power button is on top edge).

      2. There are two wireless mics (transmitters). Turn each one on and they will automatically connect to the receiver (power button is on bottom edge).

The mic range is fairly good. If meeting at a long table, place a mic at each end. Or pass them around to whomever is speaking.

      3. The transmitters can be attached to the mounting stick to use it like a traditional stick mic.

      4. In the Zoom call, change the Audio mic to 'Wireless Go II RX'.

      Troubleshooting

      • If the mics are not transmitting sound even though they appear to be set up correctly (and the audio source in Zoom/Teams is set to 'Wireless Go II')

        • Check to see if the mics are muted.

        • Check to see if the receiver is actually powered on. If you see a battery icon as below, the receiver is powered off (but charging).

      • Check to see if the mic transmitter is no longer synced to the receiver.

        • On the receiver, the battery and wifi symbol will be empty.

        • On the mic transmitter, the left blue light will blink steadily.

        • To fix:

          • On the receiver, press the 1/2 button until there's an outline around the mic that lost its sync.

          • Now hold the 1/2 button down until the outline starts blinking.

          • On the transmitter, quickly press the power button twice. (This has to be done before the outline on the receiver stops blinking. If you run out of time, repeat the previous step.)

          • Once the sync is re-established, the left blue light on the transmitter will remain on and stop blinking, and on the receiver the battery and wifi symbols will come to life.
