Orange Tracker and Teams Integration
This functionality requires the Smart Connect for Jira connector.
This integration allows for two-way integration to/from both Orange Tracker and MS Teams. The functionality included with this integration relating to MS Teams consists of:
Starting MS Teams Chats via Orange Tracker
Navigate to the Orange Tracker work item desired to start a chat
Select Start Conversation
Select desired chat template
Posting to MS Teams Channel via Orange Tracker
In order to post to an MS Teams Channel, a preset is required to be configured in the Project Settings. An existing channel can be used, or a new one can be created for this purpose.
Each channel that will be posted to requires the Smart Connect for Jira to be installed on that channel in MS Teams. See the link for documentation on installing the connector.
Configure Channel Preset
Navigate to the Project Settings where this preset is desired. Must have project Administrator role.
From the sidebar, select Apps → Microsoft 365 Presets
Verify that the Teams tab is selected
Select New → Channel
Select Create on the first dialogue (create from scratch)
Fill in the preset settings
Icon: Provides a multitude of icons to select from.
Name
Preset Tags: Displays next to channels created with this preset and are color coded for easy reference
Description
Fill in the Channel Post Settings
Channel: Expand the Channel section, then login and select a default channel. If the desired channel does not appear, the Smart Connect for Jira connector has not been installed. Use the link to install the connector.
Access: Can leave as default or modify visibility.
Content: If no custom templates have been created, use the defaults. Custom templates can be created in the Project Settings under Apps → Microsoft 365 Templates.
Channel Notifications: Can leave as default.
Other: Can leave as default.
Automation: Default automation includes adding a comment to the Orange Tracker work item where this channel post was started stating that a channel post has been made. Leave as is.
Select Create & Activate
Each of the channel settings can be modified for individual project need.
Create Channel Post
From an Orange Tracker work item:
Select Start Conversation from the action menu at the top
Select the desired preset (or the one that was just created)
Fill in any other additional info, then select Start Conversation
Creating Orange Tracker Work Items from MS Teams Message
Messages in MS Teams can be converted into an Orange Tracker work item. The Smart Connect for Jira is required for this functionality.
Navigate to the chat containing the Teams message desired to convert
Right-click the message desired to convert, then select Create Jira Issue
Fill out the Create new Jira issue dialogue with appropriate project, request type, and other required/optional fields.
Confirmation of work item creation will display similar to the following:
Adding MS Teams Message as Comment to Orange Tracker Work Item
This function adds a comment to an existing request from an MS Teams message.
Navigate to the MS Teams message desired to convert into a comment
Right-click the desired MS Teams message, then select Add Jira Issue Comment
In the dialogue select the project and existing Orange Tracker work item to add the comment to
[Optional] Set the comment visibility
Button will update to the related comment visibility action (Reply to customer, Add internal note), select to create the comment
Integrating/Linking Existing Teams Chat with Orange Tracker Work Item
This function integrates an existing MS Teams chat with an existing Orange Tracker work item from MS Teams.
Navigate to the desired MS Teams chat to link
On any message in the chat, right-click and select Link to Jira Issue
In the dialogue, set the Orange Tracker work item (Issue) to link this MS Teams chat to
