SOE GA Student Printing Instructions

MacOS Instructions

  1. Open System Settings and select Printers & Scanners

  1. At the top of Add Printer control + click, right click, or two finger click to bring up the sub-menu and select Customize Toolbar

  2. A new menu will pop up, click and drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar, when you see the icon in the tool bar click Done.

  3. Click on Advanced and select or enter the following information:

a.      Type: Windows printer via spools

b.     Device: Another device

c.  URL: enter in the printer/copier from your choices below

  • smb://printers.ad.syr.edu/SOE-GA-Printer-1

  • smb://printers.ad.syr.edu/SOE-GA-Printer-2

  • smb://printers.ad.syr.edu/SOE-GA-Printer-3

  • smb://printers.ad.syr.edu/SOE-Copier-525HH-Color

d.     Name: The name should match the URL automatically as it is typed

e.     Location: Enter in a location (optional)

f.       Driver: Generic PCL Printer - For HP Printers

If connecting to the copier the xerox driver would be best and can be downloaded and installed from Xerox's page here Install the “V3 Xerox Global Print Driver PCL6” and then you can select the “Xerox AltaLink C8070” driver.

  1. The first time you print you’ll get a pop-up box where you want to type in:

    Username: AD\netid

    Password: Your netid Password

If you enter in your netID or password incorrectly after checking the box to save to your keychain it will not prompt again. You’ll need to launch Keychain Access and find the “printers.ad.syr.edu” login keychain and delete it. Once you do that the next print job will have the authentication box pop back up.

Windows Instructions

  1. Click the Start button and type run into the search box and press Enter.  The run dialog can also be accessed by holding down the Windows Key on your keyboard and pressing the R key. Type \\printers.ad.syr.edu\ into the run dialog box and click OK:

  2. This credential box should show up:

    Type in

    Username: AD\netid

    Password: Your netid Password

    Make sure you check Remember my credentials.

 

  1. Right-click on the printer you wish to install and click on connect. Choose from the numbered SOE printers: SOE-GA-Printer1/2/3

  2. This credential box should show up:

    Username: netid

    Password: Your netid password

    Make sure you check Remember my password and Click Ok

 

SOE GA Printer Location

SOE-GA-Printer1- located in Suite 200HH

SOE-GA-Printer2- located in Suite 313HH on end of red counter

SOE-GA-Printer3-located in 052HH (only idde ga’s have access to this room)

SOE-Copier-525HH-Color - Located on 5th floor in room 525
