ITS works in partnership with the technology departments located within SU's schools, colleges and administrative divisions.

Online Learning Services is a unit within Information Technology Services at Syracuse University. Our primary mission is to provide leadership and support in the appropriate use of technology for teaching, learning, and research.

Syracuse University uses Blackboard Course management software that makes class content available to students via the Internet. Blackboard provides students and instructors with interactive web 2.0 technologies such as blogs and wikis. The Blackboard course management platform also supports video and audio from a variety of web sources including podcasts and v-casts. The Blackboard course management system uses all of these tools to enhance learning, interaction, and collaboration.
| Adobe Connect is a secure web conferencing system that all Syracuse University instructors and students can use at no charge. Participants can interact via real-time audio and video, share presentations, and join discussions verbally or by chat.
| TurningPoint is the standard student response system at Syracuse University. This device allows students to become an active participant in their classroom setting by submitting responses to interactive questions using a ResponseCard keypad or other hand-held/computer devices. The instructor has the ability to display a graph after students have answered, showing how the class answered as a whole, and letting students assess their course knowledge more often |

| Anyone in the Syracuse University community can create their own website with Expressions. Each user can customize their WordPress site to express themselves and create an online presence. | This internet-based plagiarism-detection service checks the originality of student submitted essays. Turnitin can be used to detect plagiarism as well as spelling and use of grammar. A new feature of Turnitin allows instructors to leave a voice comment with each submitted assignment. With voice comments, students can hear the content of the message, and more importantly, the context of the feedback and tone of the instructor’s voice. Turnitin can be used within the Blackboard platform. | The Ensemble Video Platform simplifies video management and distribution. Videos can be streamed from your course’s Blackboard web page, Sharepoint, Cascade, iTunes/iTunesU, web pages, iPads, and more with the help of Ensemble. |
