    Physics Department Office Information - Fall 2020

    In Fall 2020, Syracuse University is open for on campus operations. We are still in a pandemic, and need to be social distancing. 

    In order to make sure the Physics department main office continues to be able to provide services, we have worked out the following plan.

    The Physics Department Office (Physics Building 201) will be staffed in regular business hours, Monday – Friday during the Fall 2020 semester. The department office will be open and staffed by both an office staff member and an undergraduate work study student. The work study student will sit in the front, greet people, and answer phones using the desk at the front of the office just behind the orange chains. The work study will help to route inquiries to the correct place.

    Important contacts to the staff are made using generic email addresses:

    phyadmin@syr.edu for general contacts,

    phybudget@syr.edu for budget inquiries, and

    phyacademics@syr.edu for academic-related issues.

    Each of these emails go to multiple staff in order for the staff to support back-up for each other. 

    While in the office, staff will continue their work and be available to address issues in person. Staff members not working in the office at the time will be working from home. While working from home, staff members will have set drop-in hours on Zoom. Both the in person and drop-in hours are posted on an internal Answers website with the times and links. Nearly all departmental processes and functions can be handled remotely online using emails and online forms.
