Classroom Equipment Loan

About

The ITS Classroom Equipment Loan Program provides short-term loans of a limited supply of ITS audio, video, computing, and presentation equipment to support classroom instruction for faculty and staff. LEMP does not provide setup for these items and they are to be setup and managed by the client.

Eligibility

Equipment can be borrowed:

  • By Syracuse University staff and faculty, only

  • By faculty-sponsored teaching and graduate assistants (requires pre-approved written permission)

  • For a maximum of 48 hours at no cost for class-related work (back-to-back reservations are not allowed)

Audio Equipment

About Handheld Microphones: Portable wireless microphone kits are available for most larger auditoriums or classrooms. In rooms equipped with two wireless channels, an additional handheld microphone can be programmed to the lavalier frequency, allowing for up to two handhelds simultaneously. For rooms with audio inputs, a single handheld mic kit can be plugged directly into the room's audio system, providing wireless handheld functionality without frequency programming.

About Digital Voice Recorders: Portable Olympus Digital Voice Recorders are available for capturing lectures, interviews, field research, and presentations. Useful for language practice, qualitative research, speech/debate review, and documentation.

About Portable PA Systems: Self-contained public address amplification systems ideal for small events or classes in spaces without built-in audio. Includes up to two handheld microphones. PA stands are available upon request.

About Microphone Stands: Adjustable stands for positioning handheld microphones. Useful for panel discussions, performances, or hands-free presentations. Tabletop or floor mic stands available.

Photography and Videography Equipment

About Digital Cameras: Point-and-shoot cameras for classroom documentation, student projects, or capturing images for presentations and course materials. User must provide own SD card.

About Camcorders: Video cameras for recording lectures, demonstrations, student presentations, or creating course content. Suitable for both stationary recording and handheld filming. User must provide own SD card. Tripods available upon request. Indicate if need tabletop or floorstanding.

Computing and Presentation Equipment

About Document Cameras: Overhead cameras for displaying physical documents, books, 3D objects, or demonstrations in real-time. Connects to room displays, laptops or can be used with portable projectors.

About Projection Screens: Projection screens provide a portable display solution for rooms without built-in screens. These screens are self-supporting and ideal for presentations in flexible spaces or temporary setups.

About Portable Projectors: Portable projectors can be used in most classrooms or meeting spaces. These projectors connect via HDMI and are compatible with laptops, tablets, and other devices. For rooms without built-in projection systems, portable projectors provide a flexible solution.

About Media Players: Portable media players are available to accommodate various media formats. We offer Blu-ray/DVD combo players, DVD/VCR combo players, and multi-region DVD players. These devices can be connected to classroom displays, projectors, or TVs, making it easy to play physical media for presentations, screenings, or archival content. Multi-region players are particularly useful for international DVDs that may not play on standard U.S. equipment.

About Zoom Room Microphones: MXL Zoom Room microphones are designed specifically for Zoom video conferencing setups. This USB microphone provides clear audio capture for remote meetings, hybrid classes, or recorded presentations. They feature wide pickup patterns to capture multiple speakers in a room and connect easily to laptops or computers. MXL mics are ideal for improving audio quality in Zoom beyond standard laptop microphones.

Guidelines

  • Equipment is the responsibility of the requesting faculty or staff member or sponsoring faculty member for teaching and graduate assistants

  • There is no charge to check out equipment unless it is physically damaged or lost/stolen

  • Equipment is limited and requests should be made in advance

  • Equipment must be picked up from and returned to LEMP in Lyman Hall Room 104

  • Your SU I.D. Card must be presented upon pickup

  • LEMP does NOT deliver equipment for classroom equipment loans

  • This classroom loan rental is for the equipment only and does not include support from a technologist.
