Updated Jul 01

    Power View for Excel

Important: In Excel for Microsoft 365 and Excel 2021, Power View is removed on October 12, 2021. As an alternative, you can use the interactive visual experience provided by Power BI Desktop, which is available in labs or you can download for free. You can also easily Import Excel workbooks into Power BI Desktop.

    Enabling Power View Add-in

If you do not find Power View on the Ribbon, you need to enable the Power View add-in.

    1. Click the File tab on the Ribbon.

    2. Click Options.

    3. Click Add-Ins in the Excel Options dialog box.

    4. Click the drop-down arrow in the Manage box.

    5. Select COM Add-ins from the dropdown list and click Go.

    6. The COM Add-ins dialog box appears. Check the box Power View and click OK.

    7. Power View will be visible on the Ribbon.

Add Power View on the Ribbon

    • You may have to add Power View to the Ribbon manually to make it visible.

    • In the Ribbon window, right-click Data group and select Customize the Ribbon.

    • Select New Group on the right and create a new group, Rename it to Power View.

    • In the Choose commands from list, change the selection from Popular Commands to All Commands.

    • Scrolldown and select Power View from the list.

    • Click Add. Make sure to select the custom Power View as the destination.

    • To see and save your changes, click OK.
