When to use Fonts and Colors

There are very few cases whilst creating documents in which there is a need to deviate from the default fonts and colors, it is recommended to keep the defaults. If the need arises to change the default fonts or colors, the fonts and colors chosen must meet accessibility requirements.

Should the need to deviate from the default font colors, ensure that all font colors you have chosen to be on your page meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio and have a 3:1 contrast ratio to surrounding text if included in a paragraph. Use the Color Contrast Determinator utility to help determine what is acceptable.

    Highlighting Particular Content

If a particular line of content should be brought to the readers attention use a Tip, Note, Info, or Warning.

    Design Guidelines

    • Keep the default fonts and colors.

    • To meet accessibility requirements leverage the Color Contrast Determinator utility.
