How to use resize multiple images using Irfanview
Start Irfanview Thumbnails under the Start menu.
Browse to the folder with your images and select the images you want to resize.
Click File > “Start Batch Dialog with selected files” or just press the B key.
On the Batch conversion window:
Click ‘Batch conversion – Rename result files’.
Under Batch conversion settings:
Click Options next to output format and pick the jpg quality. Usually 80-85 is fine.
Enable ‘Use advanced options for bulk resize’, then click Advanced.
In the new window, enable ‘RESIZE’. Set the width to 2000 pixels (or whatever you like).
Enable ‘Don’t enlarge smaller images’.
Under Batch rename settings, enter the following for ‘Name pattern’; $N-resize. This will add the word ‘resize’ to the resized files so as not to overwrite the originals.
For Output directory, click ‘Use current (look in) directory’. This will place the resized files in the original folder. You can change if you like.
Now click the ‘Start Batch’ button to begin the resize process.
When it is finished, click the Exit Batch button and then close the Batch conversion window.
Hit the F5 key to refresh the thumbnail window to see the new files. You can sort by date to group all the new files together for easier selection. Or just close Irfanview Thumbnails and use Windows File Explorer to work with the new files.
