Graduate Student Community Space
The School of Education now has a work, collaboration, and social space open to all SOE graduate students, on the fifth floor of Huntington Hall (west wing). This Answers page explains the space, its amenities, and how to use them.
Room Reservations
The Graduate Student Community Spaces consists of rooms 522 through 534. Several rooms are reservable for meetings, collaborative work, or privacy on virtual calls:
Room 524 (meeting/collaborative space)
Room 526 (meeting/collaborative space)
Room 530 (conference room)
Rooms 531AA and 531AB ("Zoom rooms”)
Learn more about these rooms and reserve a space using your Microsoft Outlook calendar.
Photocopier/Printer
A photocopier/printer is found in room 528, along with a print station PC. Read instructions on how to add this printer to your computer.
Lockers
Personal lockers can be found throughout the space. Lockers in room 534 are reserved for SOE Ph.D. graduate assistants; kitchenette lockers are for all graduate students, on a first come, first served basis. Kitchenette lockers require students to supply their own locks.
You are responsible for the safety of your own belongings; please do not leave personal items out when you leave—either secure them in a locker or take them with you.
Kitchenette
A kitchenette can be found in room 522. It has a microwave, sink/faucet, Keurig coffee machine, and refrigerator, plus seats to eat and mingle. Our janitorial staff does not clean kitchen surfaces or dishes, so please keep this and other spaces neat and tidy and don't forget to help keep our spaces clean!

Did You Know?
Until recently, the fifth floor was occupied by the Department of Psychology, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Originally, this area was part of the Hospital of the Good Shepherd (founded in 1872 by Bishop Huntington, run by Syracuse University until 1965).
During renovation, tile floors were uncovered in room 534, leading us to believe it was once split into three procedure rooms or similar clinical spaces.
Rooms 534 and 531 are named for alumnae Helen Warren Spector G’72 and Flora A. Workman ’46, G’64, respectively. Thank you to our donors for helping to fund these renovations.
