    SCHOLARSHIPS

    Opportunities for Financial Support -

We recognize that the costs of living in Washington are higher than some other metropolitan areas, so we offer one work-study position and provide scholarships based on merit and need.  Those who are eligible for and would like to be considered for these funding opportunities need to indicate so in the Financial Assistance section of the Maxwell in Washington application.

    SPRING & FALL

    Maxwell-in-Washington Program Associate

This is a federal work-study position, and thus open to US citizens who qualify for this type of federal student aid. The Program Associate is usually based at CSIS, one day a week, and helps our Program Coordinators keep our program running. There are a variety of administrative things to ensure an effective program, and you would play a central part. The associate will assist in maintaining the website, keeping track of our internship contacts, our database, and communications with current and prospective semester participants.

You must have available work-study hours in order to accept this position.

    Michael D. Schneider Scholarships

All students who indicate financial need on their application will be considered for the Michael D. Schneider Scholarships.  These scholarships vary in amount from $500 to $1500 and are awarded based on academic merit and financial need.  They carry the name of former DC Director Michael Schneider for his long service to Maxwell-in-Washington, his dedication, and commitment to experiential education.

    SUMMER

For those of you who will be pursuing internships in the summer, the following are a few funding opportunities that you should investigate.

Mark and Pearle Clements Internship Awards

The Mark and Pearle Clements Internship Awards are intended to enable Syracuse University students to undertake unique summer internships that they have developed on their own initiative and that would not be possible to undertake without financial help. The objective is that students create their own internship, working under the guidance and supervision of an experienced professional who can help them explore opportunities that link theory with practice in their fields of career interest. You do not need to have secured an internship in order to apply. For more information visit the Clements Internship Awards website.

Syracuse University Alumni Club of Washington DC, Summer in DC Scholarship

The Washington, D.C. Internship Award is designed to assist full-time undergraduate, sophomore and junior students, at Syracuse University who are participating in external internship opportunities during the summer term. The Syracuse University Alumni Club of Washington D.C. Internship Fund provides financial support to undergraduate students interning in the DC metropolitan area with demonstrated financial need.
