Purchase Additional Claude Usage Tokens
Overview
Students, Faculty, & Staff members of the Syracuse University community are provided standard seats/licenses for Claude Enterprise, which is roughly equivalent to a Claude Pro license. The standard seat includes Chat, Cowork, and Claude Code at no additional cost. Other affiliations of members may gain access to Claude by request to aihelp@syr.edu or by purchasing a Premium seat.
Faculty and Staff Information
Faculty and staff who wish to have access to additional usage tokens should have their department purchase a Premium Seat license, which includes expanded usage capacity. Compared to a Standard Seat, a Premium Seat provides:
Roughly 5x the per-session usage (Premium is rated at 6.25x Pro-level usage per session versus 1.25x for a Standard Seat).
No dedicated weekly Cowork limit. Standard Seats have a separate weekly usage cap for Cowork; on a Premium Seat, Cowork usage draws from the broader weekly "All models" allowance instead — a meaningful benefit for Cowork-heavy workflows.
Access to the Fable model, which is not available on a Standard Seat.
If usage limits are still being hit after purchasing a Premium Seat, extended usage credits can be set up, with the additional usage charged at the API rates for the model being used. The department's chart string will be charged monthly for any extra usage.
Premium Seat
If you wish to have a Claude Premium seat and have approval from your department to fund it, navigate to the Access Package to request the premium seat. Following approval, the cost is pro-rated and billed to the department based on our contract with Anthropic.
If you are encountering problems with rate limits, you may wish to have a premium seat purchased instead of buying credits, as it will increase those limits.
Student Information
