Welcome to GitHub at Syracuse University!
Syracuse University offers GitHub to its active students, faculty, and staff, empowering them to boost collaboration, communication, and documentation while coding and working on projects.
Access to GitHub
Access to GitHub must be granted by IT support through the addition of the user(s) to the SU group named: SU-RSC-GitHub.
An access request to GitHub maybe made to your local IT support staff or via the help desk.
Start using GitHub
Once your IT Team enables GitHub access:
- An email will be sent to your Syracuse University mailbox. (usually within 60 minutes)
- Create a GitHub.com account or follow the instructions in the email to link your existing personal GitHub account with your Syracuse University identity by completing the sign-in process.
- After successful sign-in, you will be brought to your account's "Dashboard". You can access the Syracuse University organization by using the "View organization" button or by navigating to: Syracuse University (github.com)
- Request to join an existing GitHub Team or follow one of the use case guides.
- Customize your GitHub Notifications
