Here's a list of various IT resources and what happens after you graduate.

Architecture printing account balance

  • Request a refund of an unused arch account balance by sending a request to archit@syr.edu.
  • The request must be made at the end of each semester, up to two weeks past graduation.
  • Refunds may take several weeks to process and will be posted as a credit to your SU bursar account.

Software

Adobe Creative Cloud

Microsoft Office

Autodesk products

Arch Computer Labs and Arch RemoteLab

  • Access to Architecture computer labs (including RemoteLab) are disabled the Wednesday after graduation.

Google Drive Data

  • Access to your SU Google Drive files and @g.syr.edu account will be lost 30 days after graduation.
  • There a couple of ways to save your data.
    • Migrate it directly to a personal Google account using the Google's automated migration service.
    • Download the data using Google Takeout and then upload it to a personal cloud storage.
    • Warning: don't rely on keeping a synced/offline copy of your Google Drive. Files in Google's own formats like Docs, Sheets, etc. are shortcuts to the files that only exist in Google's Cloud. Using Takeout or downloading the files converts them to Microsoft Office formats.

OneDrive Data

  • Access to your SU OneDrive account will be lost 30 days after graduation.
  • Make sure to disconnect the SU OneDrive account from your personal laptop before this deadline passes.
  • If you added SU OneDrive access to your personal computer and let it redirect your Desktop, Documents and Pictures to the SU OneDrive account, files in these locations will be lost when SU removes your OneDrive access.
    • If you disconnect the SU OneDrive before the deadline, files in these locations will be removed and you'll see a 'Where are my files' icon. You can double click the icon and redownload the files back to your Desktop, Documents and Pictures. Make sure to do this before the deadline passes or you will lose access.
    • Alternatively, before you disconnect the SU OneDrive, copy or move the files to a temporary location on your computer (i.e., create a folder on the C drive called Temp (C:\Temp)). Then disconnect and put the files back after.
  • No labels
