If you received an email indicating you need to configure your Exchange account in preparation for migration to SUMail, we recommend simply removing your account from the device and reconfiguring the account using the steps below. Configuring your email account with your full email address will properly prepare you for your account's migration.

Configuring SUmail to Android Phones

This is a basic visual representation. Each version of the Android/Kindle operating system will look slightly different. Please click the images to enlarge.

Step 1 - Navigate to your apps and open up the Accounts app.

Select "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync" as the account type.

Step 5 - Enter Your Credentials

Type in your email and password, be sure to uncheck 'Automatically configure account' if prompted.

Step 6 - Verify Server Settings

If required, you will be brought to this page. Insert your sumail email address into the domain\username, password remains your sumail password and the exchange server should be outlook.office365.com. Then click next.

Can't Sync the Email Account?

If your device is not seeing any of the SU wireless networks, or you simply can't connect to AirOrangeHelp, you may be having software or hardware related issues with the device. We recommend contacting the ITS Service Center for further assistance.

  1. Once you have installed the Outlook app, open it.
  2. You will be brought to a welcome screen. Tap Get Started.
  3. On the 'Get Notified' screen, you have the option to turn on or off app notifications. Choose the setting based on your personal preference.
  4. On the 'Add Account' screen, enter your full email address (e.g. NetID@syr.edu)
  5. Click Add Account.
  6. Enter your NetID password on the Office 365 sign in page and select Sign In.
    1. If you have 2FA, select your preferred second authentication step.
  7. Your account will be added to the Outlook app.
  8. You will be prompted to add another account right away if you wish to do so. Tap Let's Do It! to configure another account, or tap Maybe Later to wait.

You will be directed to a brief tutorial about Focused Inbox, Calendar, and Search in the Outlook app. You may select to skip the tutorial.

  1. Launch the Outlook app.
  2. At the top left, select the menu icon, tap Settings.
  3. Tap the account you would like to remove.
  4. A new window will appear. Tap Delete Account.
  5. A small menu will appear, tap Delete.
  6. Fully quit the application.
