LA - Admissions

The Newhouse LA program is offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Junior or senior standing (60 credits completed) by the start of your semester in LA.
Good academic, judicial, and financial standing with your home college and no unresolved issues.
An academic advising plan that includes completion of your declared major requirements.
Syracuse University non-Newhouse majors need to submit home college approval.

Advertising: declare your emphasis
Bandier: recommended fall semester of senior year
Broadcast Digital Journalism: Completion of JNL 211 is required. Completion of BDJ 311/364 is recommended.
TRF: completion of TRF 205/211/235 before your planned semester
Single-enrolled Newhouse students: declare your minor
Duals and non-Newhouse majors: Please have the Home College Approval Form filled out from your advising office, records manager or student services director of your home college.

Application Deadline: Sunday, February 15 @ 11:59 p.m. EST
Mandatory Virtual Information Session (required): Friday, February 20 @ 2 p.m. EST
Mandatory In-person Los Angeles Orientation (required): August 19, 2025 at 10 a.m. PST
Orientation Week Events (required): August 19-22, 2026
Academic Program Dates: Monday, August 31-Tuesday, December 15, 2026 (Note: The University is currently reviewing the Fall 2026 academic calendar. Based on their decisions, the above dates could be subject to change).
