Washington, DC Undergraduate Semester Cost
The Washington, DC Semester Program offers programming in spring, fall and summer semesters.
Fall and Spring Semesters-
Offered in both fall and spring semesters, the Washington, DC Semester Program is open to qualified junior and senior undergraduates in any major whose GPA is at least 3.0.
The program allows students to pursue 12- to 18-credits of coursework and internship experience, all offered in Washington, D.C.
SU financial aid packages travel with you, and there is no need to transfer credits back to SU upon your return.
The cost for attending the Maxwell in Washington, DC Semester Program includes a $500 administrative fee, and your tuition. Housing costs are approximately $6,895 for fall and spring. You should also plan on food and personal expenses. The program will provide an unlimited Metro via U-Pass to cover transportation costs within the District.
Following are costs for the DC Program for Fall and Spring semesters. Please note that costs are subject to change. These costs are in addition to your tuition.

Please note that some campus-based fees will be waived for the semester you are in DC. These fee waivers are described below:
Fall and Spring Semester Fee Waivers
Health Services Fee | $330.00 waived |
Co-curricular Fee | $105.00 waived* |
*Note that the co-curricular fee is charged in the fall for the whole academic year. Students will be credited for half of this fee.
The waivers do not process until after the close of the add/drop period. Please note that it is not possible to waive the student activity fee of $96/semester. Current University policy does not allow the waiver of this fee under any circumstances.
Summer Semester-
The Washington, DC Summer Program is open to qualified junior and senior undergraduates in any major whose GPA is at least 3.0.
The program allows students to pursue 3- to 6-credits of coursework and internship experience, all offered in Washington, D.C.
Students registered for at least 6 credits are eligible for financial aid packages.
The cost for attending the Maxwell in Washington, DC Summer Program includes a $400 administrative fee, and your tuition. Housing costs approximately $5,172. You should also plan on meal and personal expenses. The program will provide an unlimited Metro via U-Pass to cover transportation costs within the District.

Additional Cost Information
Any Federal, State, Private or Institutional Financial Aid you receive can be applied toward the cost (this includes federal work study, if you are selected for the one work study position available on this program).
When planning your budget for personal expenses, please remember that Washington is an exciting yet expensive city; the average movie ticket, burger or cab ride will be slightly higher than in Syracuse.
We offer a limited number of small scholarships and one work study position. We make these decisions based on the applications we receive for the semester in question.
