Newhouse LA students can arrange for short-term fully-furnished apartments through Kapi Housing.
Visit the website for more information, including a welcome packet and details about the apartments. Click Apply Now and select SULA in the "Choose Your Apartment And Room Type" drop-down menu to see pricing information. Four students in a two-bedroom apartment (two students share a bedroom and bathroom) is the most cost-effective option.
Once you have decided on your room type, complete the application. You can indicate the name of a roommate and two additional housemates if desired, or Kapi can also place you with other Newhouse LA students.
There is a $500 deposit, due 48 hours after you apply, that will hold the apartment until you sign the lease. You will receive an invoice via email and can pay with a credit card. The $500 is non-refundable if you cancel your reservation. If you sign a lease, the $500 will become your refundable security deposit.

FALL 2023: Apartments will be on a first come, first served basis, so reserve your apartment ASAP but NO LATER THAN Thursday, June 15.
- Shared Bedroom/Shared Bathroom: $6,440 per semester (4 students sharing a 2bedroom/2bathroom apartment)
- Private Bedroom/Private Bathroom - $12,780 per semester (2 students sharing a 2bedroom/2bathroom apartment)
Payment: You can pay Kapi directly on a monthly basis as directed in your lease or you can choose Housing Accommodation Agreement and the University will pay your rent on your behalf and bill your Bursar account. If you wish to pay Kapi directly you do not need to notify us. If you choose to utilize the Housing Accommodation, you must complete the Housing Accommodation form. Housing Accommodation can only be used in conjunction with a lease from Kapi Residences. The $500 security/holding deposit is paid to directly to Kapi whether or not you choose complete the Housing Accommodation form.
FALL 2023: The Housing Accommodation Agreement is due to Lauren Palius at lppalius@syr.edu no later than Thursday, July 6 at 3:00 PM Pacific Time. Please save it to your computer to utilize the digital signatures feature. Return all 4 pages. If you do not receive a reply confirming receipt of the form please follow up.
