AI Module Generator
This page presents how the Blackboard Ultra AI Design Assistant tool can help instructors by generating modules. The modules generated with the Ultra AI Design Assistant contain a module topic, module description, and related module image. The tool does not provide the content of the module.
Important Note
All AI-generated information is opened to inaccuracy and bias. Your role as the expert and instructor of the course is to check and examine all content generated by the Design Assistant to ensure that information provided for learners is clear, accurate, and without bias.
Accessing the Module Generator
Open the course for which you wish to auto-generate new modules.
If this is a new, blank course with no content added yet, you will see a button at the bottom of the Course Content area labeled "Auto-Generate Modules."
If you have already added other content to the course, click the icon near the middle of the Course Content list to open the add content menu, and select "Auto-Generate Modules."
Clicking on the Auto-Generate Modules button will open the Auto-Generate Learning Modules page. On the left side of the page is a menu bar labeled "Define Learning Modules" wh
- Description box: this box prompts you to enter the course description or the learning objectives. You can type in the box a brief description of the course or enter one or three learning objectives you have designed.
- Title prefix: the drop-down menu provides you options on chunking your course content. For instance you can generate the content by: unit, list, topic, chapter, week, or module. If you select the None category, it would generate the content in modules.
- Include images: this area can be clicked to add related visual imagery to your modules. You can also choose to not click it if you do not want the AI to generate images.
- Complexity: this area showcases some cool features that help you modify your modules. There are 2 areas: Complexity and Number of Learning Modules. The Complexity tab ranges from low to high. You can shift the slider across your desirable range. The same application is needed for the Number of Learning Modules tab. The range moves from 1 to 20 possible chunks of your course item. For instance, if you need 10 modules, move the slider to the center of the bar.
Once you have customized your sections you click on the "Generate" button to automatically create your modules.
You have existing modules but want an update. Let us look at how you can access the AI tool to generate new modules.
Once you are logged in, select the Courses tab on the left navigation menu on the institutional landing page Select your desired course. The Course Content page will open showing a list of your existing course content.
Click the icon in the content area where you wish to add a new module(s).

Prompting Tip
If you have scripted your learning outcomes/objectives for the course, type into the Description box those learning objectives. The example below shows a possible description entry based on learning objectives for an anatomy course with weekly modules organized around major muscle groups. Five weekly modules are required and a request for image is clicked.
RESULTS
From the description used (image 1), Ultra AI Design Assistant produced 5 modules with module title, a description of the module title, and related images based on the content of the entry.
Other Entry Examples
If you do not want to enter learning objectives, here are some possible entries to type into the Description box:
- 'fundamental statistics for first year undergraduate students'
- 'Research inquiry for masters course'
- 'Early childhood education for senior students in an undergraduate course'
- 'Storytelling: narrative and performance analysis'
- You can also enter portions or an entire table of contents of your course content/text
Whatever entry you make in the Description box, do ensure to select the Title of Prefix, Complexity and indicate the Number or Learning Modules you need. If you desire to have images, click or check the Include Images. Have fun exploring Blackboard Learn Ultra module generator!
