Rhetoric Society of America
The SU Rhetoric Society of America Chapter brings together scholars from the Composition & Cultural Rhetoric program and Communication and Rhetorical Studies department. This cross-disciplinary relationship allows us to expand our networks, engage different approaches to rhetoric scholarship, and foster a diverse and active community. RSA is the US flagship organization for rhetorical scholarship that joins work in Rhetoric & Composition, Communication Studies, and English. At SU, RSA is an opportunity for interdepartmental collaboration on related research interests and investigation into interdisciplinary rhetorical sites. The chapter meets three times each semester for research colloquia, professional development sessions, and conversation. Some of the RSA Chapter at SU’s objectives include:
To provide a space for co-departmental meetings, events, and research and writing groups
To provide a local connection to the larger national RSA network and resources
To create awareness for rhetorical research and studies in the Syracuse University graduate community
To help coordinate travel resources and connections for the national RSA conference
To create visibility for SU RSA student interests at the national RSA conference and institute
To enhance an awareness of the rhetorical scholarship happening by SU faculty and rhetorical scholars in the field
To provide professional development opportunities that foster participation in conferences and other scholarly opportunities in the field
To provide networking opportunities with rhetorical scholars at Syracuse University and in the field.
Students interested in getting involved as an officer or as a member should reach out to Hannah Sparks (CRS) at hsparks@syr.edu or Brenna Williams (CCR) at bwilli65@syr.edu.
