SU Students | Dept. will contact Assoc Dean for Administration to complete a Search Proposal and send to Human Resources. If dept. already has student employee in mind, will submit a completed and signed SOE Personnel Appt. form to SOE Business Office. | Business Office will enter info into HR Online Questionnaire or Excel Templates as directed by HR (return completed spreadsheets to SUHires@syr.edu) | N/A | Current student employees in position already assigned PINs. IMPORTANT - HR requests that we submit all hiring request a minimum of THREE business days prior to their start date.
Hiring a Student Employee that you Already Know
- You already have a student in mind to hire
- Contact the Business Service Office to see if a Position Identification Number (PIN) is available already. If no PIN number is available see 2Abelow
- If a PIN number is available, complete a PAF
- Have the student sign, the supervisor sign
- Once the signatures are in place, submit to the Business Office for processing.
- We will process the Online Hiring submission and notify you when the student employee is posted to the HR/Payroll System

If no PIN number is available, a Position Evaluation Request (PER) is required. To complete a PER, the following questions will need to be answered:
- Start Date
- End Date
- Whom the employee will report to
- Working Title
- Are Work-Study Funds Required
- Hourly Rate
- Justification for Position
- Short description summarizing postion
- Job Responsibilities
- Salary chartstring
- Send your information to our office. We will complete a PER and submit it to HR to acquire a PIN number

Contact SOE Associate Dean for Adminstration to complete a Search Proposal to send to HR to post on the sujobopps website.
Follow Steps 2 through 6 and 2A if necessary
