Free student license
- You can get a free license for ArcGIS Pro to install on a personal computer.
- (ArcGIS Desktop is being phased out in favor of ArcGIS Pro. You can still use Desktop by logging into a lab computer.)
Using ArcGIS Pro in the arch computer labs
- ArcGIS Pro in the labs requires a special SU ArcGIS Online account to use.
- To obtain this account, email John Olson of the SU Library at jaolson@syr.edu and request "an SU ArcGIS Online account so that I can use ArcGIS Pro in the computer labs."
- The account has a username in the format "YourNetID_SyrUniv". Once you have this account you will be able to use Pro in the labs.
- This same account is also required to utilize online resource links within ArcGIS Pro, whether in the labs or on your own personal computer.
- Here is how to access the 3D Analyst tools in ArcGIS Pro.
- Open ArcGIS Pro and start a Map project.
- Click the Analysis tab.
- Click the Tools button.

- On the right side of the window, the Geoprocessing panel should appear.
- Within the Geoprocessing panel, click the Toolboxes tab and 3D Analyst Tools should appear at the top.
