Key Zoom Features
Zoom Meetings syncs with your Outlook, Gmail, or iCal calendar system and delivers streamlined enterprise-grade video conferencing from desktop and mobile.
- Zoom has support for up to 500 video participants and 49 videos on screen.
- Zoom enables FERPA/HIPAA compliance and provides end-to-end 256-bit encryption.
Recommended Account Settings
Since there has been a large increase in those hosting Zoom Meetings, internet trolls have been "zoombombing" public meetings by sharing their screen and playing disturbing, pornographic, or violent content. The following simple settings changes will prevent this from being able to happen. On March 26th, 2020, Zoom updated what features are turned on/off by default to help combat 'zoombombing." and while some of these settings are enabled/disabled by default, we strongly suggest reviewing your settings in detail before launching your first Zoom meeting.

The accounts settings below are required if you are someone handling health information as it is critical in ensuring the privacy and security of patient/client health information. If you will be interacting with health data, please review our Zoom Settings for Health Data page prior to using of Zoom. |

- Enabling “Co-Host” so you can assign your TA or another trusted person to help moderate larger groups.
- Disable “File Transfer” so there’s no digital virus sharing.
- Disable “Join Before Host” so people can’t cause trouble before you arrive. (Default Setting)
- Change screen sharing to “Host Only.” (Default Setting)
- Disable “Allow Removed Participants to Rejoin” so booted attendees can’t slip back in. (Default Setting)
- Starting April 2nd, 2020, the Waiting Room feature will be automatically turned on by default.
Additionally, avoid using your Personal Meeting ID (PMI) to host public events. Your PMI is basically one continuous meeting and once someone has your PMI, they can enter your meeting at any time.
