SU is participating in the Microsoft Student Advantage program. Through the program, current SU & ESF students (undergraduate, graduate, part-time, and non-credit) and SU staff and faculty (Not ESF Staff or Faculty) can download and install Office desktop applications on up to five computers (PC, Mac) and five mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Android). Project Advance students are not eligible for Office 365 ProPlus. NOTE: ESF students may need to change their password if they have problems with downloading the app, or if there is a "Read Only" mode message.
Students can download Office 365 ProPlus using their SUmail student email account. SU staff and faculty don't have SUmail email accounts but can download the Office applications using a special SUmail portal account (visit Office 365 ProPlus for Staff and Faculty through Microsoft Student Advantage). Office applications installed through the Microsoft Student Advantage program remain activated as long as a student or staff/faculty remains eligible. When you graduate or leave the university, the subscription will expire. Students and staff/faculty must connect any device with Office 365 ProPlus to the Internet at least once every 30 days for an automatic license check.

OneNote is available for download on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Phone, but it is not part of the Office 365 ProPlus subscription.
Power BI
Power BI is included with the Office 365 ProPlus subscription. Power BI is a suite of business analytics tools to analyze data and share insights. Users can monitor the health of their business using a live dashboard, create rich interactive reports with Power BI Desktop and access data on the go with native Power BI Mobile apps.

If you are unable to sign in using your SU email and password simply change your password on the NetID self-service page. This will activate your account for Power BI access. Once your password is changed your account should be active at your next login. If you still cannot log in following your password change, contact the ITS Help Desk by emailing help@syr.edu, by phone at 315-443-2677, or by stopping into 1-227 CST. |

Windows 10

"Office 365" refers to our subscription plan that includes access to Office applications plus other productivity services that are enabled over the Internet (cloud services).
How do I find available Office 365 Services?
You can find all Office 365 services available using your by using your @syr.edu email address and Netid password at the portal page: https://portal.office.com
- Go to https://portal.office.com and type in your @syr.edu email address.
- Use your Netid password that is used for all other Syracuse University services.
- Click (or tap) on the Office 365 app launcher icon to see the menu of Office 365 web apps and services that are available to you. You can click on the app launcher icon while in any Office 365 web app to easily switch between applications.
Email access:
- For all active Students and Alumni, email is provided through Office 365 Outlook. This can also be accessed using https://sumail.syr.edu.
- For active Staff and Faculty, email is provided using the campus Exchange mail system, accessible via https://exchange.syr.edu.
How do I Download and Install Office 365 ProPlus?
The installation process will vary by device:

- Installing Office 365 ProPlus on iPad
- Installing Office 365 ProPlus on Android
How do I Manage my Office 365 ProPlus Licenses?
You can manage the licenses you have installed for Office 365 ProPlus using your SUmail account (students) or https://portal.office.com (SU staff and faculty)
- Go to http://sumail.syr.edu and select "Log into SUmail" (faculty and staff who are taking classes at SU should use: https://portal.office.com)
- Login using your netid and password
- Go to "settings" in the upper right-hand corner (the gear icon next to your name)
- Select "Office 365 settings"
- Select "Software"
- Select "Office"
A list of computers where you have installed Office 365 ProPlus will appear. Select "deactivate" next to the device to remove the license from that device and make it available for use on another computer Office 365 ProPlus for your devices is available at no cost, more information regarding what this entails and how to install ProPlus on your devices can be found at our Office365 ProPlus page.
When you graduate or leave the university, the subscription will expire. Students and staff/faculty must connect any device with Office 365 ProPlus to the Internet at least once every 30 days for an automatic license check.
What if I am No Longer a Current Student or Staff/Faculty?
The Microsoft Student Advantage Licensing Program, through which Office 365 ProPlus is being offered, is for current students and staff/faculty of participating Universities. If you are no longer eligible for the program (you graduate or leave the university), there are consumer or commercial Office 365 plans available. Once you are no longer eligible, Office 365 ProPlus will go into reduced functionality mode. You services will no longer be available for you to use, or with limited functionality. As such, any data you have stored in these services will no longer be able to create/edit documents using Office 365 ProPlus.
Once you leave the University, you will have to buy the standard subscription. The Office 365 Home Subscription is the most comparable to what you received with Pro Plus: https://products.office.com/en-us/office-365-home
Note that eligibility for the Student Advantage Program may be verified at any time.
