PlayPosit
Playposit is an interactive video platform that allows educators to embed elements such as quiz questions or reflection prompts into videos from YouTube, Vimeo, or Kaltura, to enhance student engagement and learning.
Accessing PlayPosit
To login to PlayPosit, go to playposit.syr.edu and login with your SU NetID.
Alternatively, PlayPosit can be accessed through the Blackboard content market by going to the content area of your course and selecting → Content Market → PlayPosit → Enter PlayPosit.
Building PlayPosit Bulbs
Bulbs are interactive videos created in PlayPosit by embedding various types of interactions within the video. These interactions include features like multiple-choice questions, open-ended prompts, web embeds and more. By providing real-time feedback and tracking student responses, PlayPosit helps create an active learning environment and fosters better understanding and retention of the material. Bulbs are created in Playposit before they are deployed through Blackboard. Videos can be linked from Kaltura, Youtube, or Vimeo.
To create a bulb, go to PlayPosit and select My Bulbs from the left side menu, then click the "Add New Bulb" button in the upper left.
Add a video from Kaltura, Youtube, or Vimeo. Multiple videos can be added to a bulb.
Youtube: Copy the URL for the video you wish to use and then enter it in the search box on PlayPosit
Kaltura: Videos from your Kaltura library can be added by searching for the video
Vimeo: Videos from your Vimeo library can be added by searching for the video
You can also upload video or audio files directly from your computer or cloud drive.
Once a video has been added to your bulb, you can move the slider at the bottom of the editing screen to select a timestamp within the video.
Click ‘Add an Interaction’ at the desired point to insert a new question or other interactive element into the bulb.
Add any Tags, Playback options, and Privacy settings in the Review tab.
Once all settings are set, click Save and Exit.

PlayPosit Creator Challenge
This certificate-based challenge allows you to learn the PlayPosit system while simultaneously getting your first few bulbs ready to deploy in your own courses. This challenge consists of three modules and the entire challenge can be completed in under an hour. Don’t have a complete hour to dedicate? You have the option to save and pick it up at a later time.
To get started you will need:
Access to 3 short informational videos in Kaltura or YouTube
Make sure they are under 2 to 3 minutes each
2 of the videos must-have speakers (Ted Talks are good examples)
During the practice - you will need to create 2-3 questions per video
Make sure you are already logged into PlayPosit using your SU NetID, then click one of the links below to get started.
