Excel Certification Exam for Students

To schedule your exam:

  1. Instructions will be provided by your professor on how you are graded and what is required of you.

  2. Then, schedule your exam by selecting a time slot listed in this bookings page.

Some things to note:

  1. You will need to input your Syracuse email address.

  2. 1 entry per student. Confirmation will be emailed to you.

  3. If the slot is full it will be removed from the list.

  4. If you fail to show up for your time slot, you lose your 1st try.

  5. A confirmation email will be sent to you 24 hours before you take the exam.

Note: 1st try is free. Subsequent retakes will be charged $60 a session.

After booking a time slot, remember to do the following before the exam day:

  1. Create a Certiport account. This is required so your results can be saved and later passed on to instructors.
    Here is the website to create your personal account: https://app.certiport.com/portal/signup

  2. Once your login and password for Certiport is created, you will be shown your Certiport page. This is all you need to do.

NOTE: Do not purchase the voucher on Certiport website!

  2. Be sure to practice for the exam using GMetrix, a performance-based platform designed to help prepare you for certification exams. Used to improve passing rates, the platform simulates actual exam conditions to help instill confidence and proficiency, offering both self-paced training and timed practice modes.   4. Microsoft certification exams MUST be taken on a Windows machine, so be sure to study from that perspective (not on a Mac as the functionality are different).

  5. If you require a Windows Environment to study, please use one of the Labs in the Edit Suites (472), BDJ Labs (482,482A,486,491).

  6. Passing this exams will require that you study. Surface-level knowledge of this program will not be enough to pass the exam.

On Exam Day:

  1. Bring your SUID. (the Get Mobile app is fine, as well)

  2. Arrive to the 472, Edit Suites, of Newhouse 2, 5-10 minutes prior to the start of your exam.

  3. All electronic devices must be turned off/silenced and checked in with the proctor.

  4. Once you are seated, proceed to login using your userid/password for Certiport

  5. Remember to check your email and take note of the Access Code to enter into the system.

  6. Breaks are allowed but the testing clock cannot be paused.

  7. You will immediately receives a pass/fail grade at the end of the exam. 700 points out of 1,000 is passing.

  8. Once an exam is completed, you may view/print a certificate in the “My Transcript” section of your Certiport account.

After the Exam:

  1. For retakes, please check with your professor on the details.

  2. Do not purchase a voucher and reschedule unless you are told to do so.
