The collaboratories on the second and third floors of Hinds Hall are dedicated spaces for meetings, video conferencing, team-based project work, and DPS residencies. These rooms have recently been upgraded with integrated webcams and microphones, and new flat-panel displays. The spaces are now designed to support a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) experience.

Room Type: Small Group Meeting Room

Intended Use: Group meetings, collaboration, presentations, hybrid meetings

Seating Capacity: 6–8 people (varies by room)

Display & Audio

  • Display with Integrated soundbar for clear audio playback

  • Built-in webcam mounted between the display and soundbar for video conferencing

  • Optimized for presentations, screen sharing, and hybrid/video meetings

Webcam & Microphone Input (Wall Plate)

  • Provides a direct connection to the room’s integrated webcam and microphone for your laptop

  • Used automatically when the correct microphone is selected on your device

  • Do not unplug this cable

How to Use the Room (Quick Start)

Projecting your laptop screen and sound

  1. Plug in your laptop using the Display & Sound cable (USB-C or HDMI depends on the ports for your laptop)

  2. Press ON under Display

  3. Select the correct input on the panel (USB-C or HDMI)

  4. Wait a few seconds for the display to activate

  5. Adjust volume using the control knob if needed

After you connect the cable and get prompted with:

“What do you want to show on ‘TH-75CQE2’?”

Select:

  • Extended Display

This allows you to:

  • Keep notes or controls on your laptop screen

  • Present content with audio on the room display

Mac Users – Display Tip

If the display does not appear automatically:

  1. Open System Settings → Displays

  2. Enable Screen Mirroring or select the external display

  3. If the screen turns off unexpectedly, press DISPLAY → ON again

Using the room Camera and Mic

  1. Plug in your laptop using the Webcam & Mic cable.

  • For video conferencing and screen sharing, confirm the following settings on your laptop for Zoom or Teams:

    • Speaker: TH-75CQE2

      (Routes laptop audio through the room soundbar)

    • Microphone: UNITE 20 Camera

      (Uses the room webcam and microphone)

    • Once configured, your laptop will automatically remember these settings the next time you use the room.

Important Notes

  • Avoid repeatedly pressing input buttons

  • Wait a few seconds after turning the display on

  • Do not unplug the WEB CAM / MIC wall cable

  • Turn the display off when finished
