The Newhouse LA program is offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.

Junior or senior standing (60 credits completed) by the start of your semester in LA.
Good academic, judicial, and financial standing with your home college and no unresolved issues.
An academic advising plan that includes completion of your declared major requirements.
Syracuse University non-Newhouse majors need to submit home college approval.

Advertising: declare your emphasis
Bandier: recommended fall semester of senior year
Broadcast Digital Journalism: Completion of JNL 211 is required. Completion of BDJ 311/364 is recommended.
TRF: completion of TRF 205/211/235 before your planned semester
Single-enrolled Newhouse students: declare your minor
Duals and non-Newhouse majors: Have the Off Campus Home College Approval form 2022.pdf filled out from the Advising Office, Records Manager or Student Services Director/Dean of your home college.

Mandatory Virtual Information Session (required): September 12, 2025 @ 2 p.m. EST
In-person Los Angeles Orientation (required): January 5, 2026 @ 10 a.m. PST
Orientation Week Events (required): January 5-January 10, 2026
