Purchase a Rhinoceros 3D license directly from the developer McNeel for $95 (if upgrading from an earlier version) or $195 (if buying a new license):
https://www.rhino3d.com/en/sales/north-america/United_States/#tabs-2
We recommend using a personal email address when creating the Rhino account, so that when you graduate you don’t lose access (because your syr.edu account will eventually be removed).
You will need to supply proof of student status during the purchase (tuition proof of payment, transcript, course schedule). If you are a new student and don’t yet have proof of your student status, use proof from your previous university or high school from the previous semester.
An alternative to the course schedule, which doesn’t include your name on the PDF/printout, is to submit the Worksheet page from Degree Works. In MySlice go to Advising > Degree Works > Continue. You’ll be on the Worksheet page. Use the small print icon to create a PDF.
The license should appear under your Rhino account (https://accounts.rhino3d.com).
If you purchased the license from a reseller like Studica, add the serial number sent to you by the reseller to your Rhino account to activate the license.
After you install Rhino on your laptop, sign in with your Rhino account to activate the software.
If you purchase Rhino 8, you can also obtain a free Rhino 7 license, which may be useful for a plugin that only works with the old version.
Obtain the free legacy license here.
