Read&Write Gold helps all individuals succeed regardless of ability or learning style. Users can access the reading, writing, studying, and research tools they need at school, home, or work. Having text read aloud with dual color highlighting, along with additional support tools, helps every learner gain confidence and work independently at their own pace.
The discrete, customizable toolbar works with commonly-used file types and applications including: Microsoft ® Word, Google Docs™, PDFs, Mozilla Firefox®, Internet Explorer®, Safari, and Chrome™, to make digital content accessible. The software can take scanned electronic documents and camera images into a format that enables interaction with the content.

The software will soon be installed on the computers in the ITS public computer labs and can now be installed on users’ University- and individually-owned computers.

Two 3-hour hands-on training sessions are planned for Friday, June 5th. The training will take place in 116 Physics computer lab from 8:30 to noon and again from 1:00 to 4:30.
This hands-on, interactive session will help participants learn about this Literacy Support software, designed to help students in the areas of Reading, Research, Writing, Vocabulary, and Studying. Read&Write also affords educators ways to provide their students with more accessible and appropriate materials to be able to truly differentiate instruction. A demonstration of how key tools are accessed and used with time to practice will be sprinkled with some basic applications to help all different kinds of learners.

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has replaced Adobe Reader XI as Adobe’s free PDF reader. Read&Write 11 is compatible with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, but a few steps need to be made in order for Read&Write to work with Reader DC.
