Basic information regarding Blackboard login and course access for SU instructors and students |
SU instructors and students can access Blackboard at blackboard.syracuse.edu. Log in to Blackboard with the same NetID and password used to login to MySlice and SUMail.
If you do not know your NetID and/or password, visit the NetID Services page to obtain this information. If you need further assistance, please call the ITS Service Center at 315-443-2677.
You will not be able to enter the Blackboard environment until you have obtained this information. It is the student's responsibility to obtain his/her NetID username and password. |
If you are accessing Blackboard from a PC, ITS recommends using either the Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browser, and make sure you update your browser regularly.
If you are accessing Blackboard from a tablet or mobile device, ITS recommends downloading and using the Blackboard app from Anthology, Inc.
Courses for the current term are displayed under the Courses tab of the Blackboard homepage. Use the arrows at the upper left/right to navigate to courses for past or (for instructors) upcoming semesters.
All courses/sections in the registrar's schedule of classes will automatically be given a Blackboard course shell 6-8 weeks prior to the start of the semester. New course shells are created empty; it is up to the instructor how to use their Blackboard course and whether to make it available to students.
Courses are only visible to students in Blackboard after they have been made available by the instructor. If you are a student who can't find your course, check with your instructor first to ask if/when the course is available in Blackboard; typically instructors do not make courses available to students until 1-2 weeks before the semester begins.
If you are an instructor having trouble finding a particular Blackboard course,
Syracuse University will use your syr.edu email address to communicate important information about the Blackboard system to you (e.g., server information such as downtimes, scheduled maintenance, upcoming changes, training events, etc.). It is important that you check this email on a regular basis.
