The IST-S-STUDENTS server is a web and database hosting environment used by technology classes in the iSchool. If you're taking or teaching a web design, web programming, or database class such as: IST263, IST553, IST479, IST679, IST359, or IST659 then this server will probably suit your needs. All iSchool courses are eligible to use this service to supplement teaching or project work within their class.
The IST-S-STUDENTS system is now configured to utilize the university's Microsoft Active Directory service. This integration means that this system is now just like most other services on campus
As of Fall 2016:
If something's missing that you need... please ask via helpdesk ticket via https://my.ischool.syr.edu
No problem. Each iSchool student is provided with a database account for each IST course for which they are registered.
Yes, you get an account for each class that you're teaching in the current semester. Your account works just like a student account EXCEPT in addition to your own databases and web folder, you also have FULL RIGHTS to access your student's spaces, too! Handy if you need to offer assistance or grade their work.
Sure, but this won't happen automatically. Please submit a helpdesk ticket and include the TA's NetID and the course number.
When a student registers for the course, there will be a slight (24-48 hours) delay before the change propagates through the various administrative systems. Please be patient!
Sure. However, it's a bit tricky since the system is tied in with SU's directory service. See the tutorial below called Connecting to Microsoft SQL Server - OFF domain.
Yes, but you'll need to use the SU remote access tool. http://its.syr.edu/security/remoteaccess/sura.cfm
