Foreign Language Exam Instructions

Note:  The following procedure uses the Spanish Placement Exam as an example, but the steps in the procedure are the same for all language exams.  Click here for Which Placement Exams are available online? 

Navigate to the Placement Exams section under Student Services in MySlice:

Click: Take Placement Exams

Take Placement Exams link will direct you to Blackboard.  Enter your NetId (ex: jsmoe) and password, click: Login

Under My Courses, click: Placement Exams

From the menu on the left, select the Language you want to take (instruction example will be Spanish)

NOTE: The Spanish and Italian Exams have an audio component. You must have speakers or headphones available BEFORE taking these exams.

NOTE: Each Language has a survey and exam component.  The survey is taken before the exam.  The questions have no point value to them; they are required to identify your language background.

Click on the Language Placement Survey link (instruction exmaple is Spanish Placement Survey)

Click: Begin

Answer the two survey questions, click: Save and Submit

Confirm Survey submission, click: OK

To take the exam componenet From the menu on the left, select the Language you want to take (instruction example will be Spanish)

 in the Left Navigation Menu. (In this example "Spanish Placement Exam")

1. Click on the Language Placement Exam Link in the Main Window to the right of the exam symbol .
   
   
   
   
   
2. Click Begin to start the test. READ and follow the instructions to take the test.
   
   
   
   
3. When complete click Save and Submit. A warning will be displayed if there are any unanswered questions.
   
   
   
4. Be sure to confirm submission when the following window pops up.  
   
   
   
5. After confirming submission the student will be able to Click OK to review exam results. The student must wait for the "Test Submitted" screen below to ensure the system has recorded their grade.
   
   
   The OK button is in the lower right hand side of the screen. The student may need to use the scroll bar to access the OK button.
   To review the Language Course Eligibility they must go to the MySlice Placement Exam Section and choose "View Placement Exam Results" (Step 17 below).
   
   
6. Please log out after reviewing your score.
   
   
   
   
7. To review the Spanish Course Eligibility go to the MySlice Placement Exams Section.
