Requirements:

• Detailed description:  At The Hatton Law Firm PLLC, our team understands the difficulties that many families face and the issues that affect parents as they work to provide for their children’s needs. Our experience representing clients who have suffered serious injuries has given us an appreciation of the sacrifices that parents regularly make to better the lives of their children.   All applicants must submit an essay of 500 words or less answering the following prompt:

  "What do you aspire to be? How do you plan to use your college degree to further your career and achieve your life goals?"

Eligibility Criteria: 

• An applicant must be from a low-income family with an annual income of less than $80,000.
• An applicant must be at least 17 years old.
• An applicant must be enrolled in or accepted to an undergraduate or graduate program.
• An applicant must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Deadline: October 17, 2023 

We will review all applications as soon as possible after they are submitted. We expect to announce a winner within 30 days after the scholarship application deadline.

Amount: $1,000

Scholarship: Aaron D. Wersing Federal Employment Rights Scholarship Contest 

Requirements:  We want to hear from law students on their thoughts on the following questions. Do your research, cite sources, and give your personal thoughts on the following: 

• How are federal employees’ rights different from employees working in the private sector? 
• Do you feel that federal employees have more or less protections than employees in the private sector? State your reasons.

Eligibility Criteria: 

• Title of the essay
• First and last name
• Email address
• Name of law school you are attending or planning to attend
• Essay must be a minimum of 400 and maximum of 500 words
• In order to apply to the scholarship, you must be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school

Scholarship: Difference Makers Scholarship 

Detailed Description: Brandon Wong & Associates has negotiated, litigated, and mediated many complex family law cases over the years. This experience has provided Attorney Wong and his legal team with a new perspective on family and a greater understanding of the importance of community. Our San Antonio family law firm works tirelessly to ease the stress and concerns of our clients during emotional times, and we take pride in the difference we have been able to make in our clients’ lives over the years.

Requirements: to apply for the Difference Makers Scholarship, we ask students to submit contact information and proof of enrollment (examples: unofficial academic transcript, letter of acceptance/admittance, etc.) We also require that each student include a submission in the form of an essay (1,000 word or less) or video (5 minutes or less) answering the following prompt: 

• What is the best memory you have made while making a difference within your community? What positive changes do you hope to make in your community in the near future? Why do you think this type of service is important? 

Eligibility Criteria: 

• Applicants must be enrolled or accepted into an ABA accredited law school in the United States
• Student is in their 2L or 3L year of Law school 
• Student is a United States Citizen or permanent resident

Detailed Description: At Weinberg Law Office, our committed lawyers handle cases within a range of personal injury practice areas that include car accidents, dog bite injuries, slip and falls, and wrongful death. Our team understands how challenging it can be for injured individuals and their families to seek justice against negligent parties. This is why the team at Weinberg Law Office has created the   2023 Weinberg Law Office Scholarship Contest . We want to hear from students about a challenge they have overcome and how it shaped them to seek out a law degree. 

Requirements: We are asking students to write a 500-word essay about the following:

• What is a Challenge You Have Faced, and Why Has it Shaped You to Seek Out a Law Degree?

Eligibility Criteria: 

• Applicants must be enrolled or accepted into an ABA accredited law school in the United States as of the fall 2023 semester.

Scholarship: "What We Can Do to Prevent People From Driving Intoxicated in Our Communities?" Scholarship 

Detailed Description:  Beginning in 2023, DWI Tom intends to offer a $2,500 “What We Can Do to Prevent People From Driving Intoxicated in Our Communities?” Scholarship to rising and current college students. Students can submit essays between 500 and 1,000 words to the firm’s scholarship selection committee for a chance to win the firm’s financial support.

DWI Tom hopes that this scholarship encourages incoming and current college students to think critically about the dangers of drinking and driving. The firm intends to judge incoming scholarship essays on a student’s creativity and research as well as their suggestions’ actionability.

Requirements: DWI Tom wants rising and current college students to answer the question, “What can we do to prevent people from driving intoxicated in our communities?” The firm requests that students’ finished essays fall between 500 and 1,000 words.

• Upload a copy of your scholarship essay
• Submit proof of enrollment/acceptance to an accredited college/university/graduate school (Student ID, letter of acceptance, etc.) 

While students aren’t required to answer any other questions beyond the initial prompts, the firm recommends that students consider the following:

• Why do people continue to drink and drive, despite knowing the dangers?
• Will a community that better understands the consequences of drinking and driving see fewer drinking and driving incidents?
• Are there communities that promote or encourage drinking and driving more than others?
• What tools, like rideshare services or free designated driver support programs, can communities use to reduce drinking and driving?

Eligibility Criteria: 

• Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Are enrolled in or accepted at an accredited college, university, or graduate school in the United States
• Agree to the scholarship  terms and conditions 
• Submit the necessary application materials, including the aforementioned essay, proof of GPA, and proof of enrollment or acceptance

Deadline: December 15, 2023  

DWI Tom will only contact its scholarship recipient after choosing its winning essay. Applicants can keep an eye on DWI Tom’s blog for an announcement regarding the firm’s decision.

Requirements:

• Students must submit an essay between 500-700 words and/or a 1-2 minute video about themselves and why they chose to attend law school/become an attorney. Graphic and creative presentations are welcomed. Students should describe their desire to use the legal system to help others or improve society.
• Students must send an unofficial copy of their school transcripts.

Eligibility Criteria: 

• Student must be a US citizen or a permanent resident;
• Student must be either accepted or currently enrolled in law school;
• Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher;
• Student must demonstrate involvement in community activities
