Facilities

This page outlines the iSchool  practices, operations, and policies to ensure all staff and faculty are aware of operations in relation to Hinds Hall.

Hinds Hall Hours of Operation:

Typically closed on Holidays and Appreciation Days, see URL = hr.syr.edu/benefits/paid-time-off-and-leaves/holiday-schedule  for specific days. 

Additionally, hours may be extended each night, until midnight, two weeks prior to the end of a semester to accommodate student work loads.

Card Access:

Exterior doors: Access is restricted to Faculty, PhD Candidates and Regular Staff.  Student staff, and students are not provided card access to exterior doors.  Students in the building prior to its closing will be allowed to stay. However, labs and classrooms will close according to the building schedule.  There are two computer labs; rooms 016 and 020 which will remain open.

Interior doors: Most interior doors are associated with a research space.  Access may be provided to students on the request of the supervising faculty member.  Twenty four hour access is provided, however access expires for students at the end of the current semester and must be renewed again by request of the faculty supervisor for each subsequent semester.

Scheduling Spaces:

All spaces that are reserve-able have an associated calendar.  Availability of spaces may be viewed at URL = calendars.ischool.syr.edu 

Collaboratories: May be scheduled by anyone with access to the Outlook Calendars or by walking up to an available Collaboratory Room Sign and selecting a 15 or 30 minute slot

Classrooms & Computer Labs: are reserve-able only by the iSchool's Academic Affairs office

Special Reservation Spaces: are reserve-able only by the iSchool's Administrative Specialists located in the Dean's Suite, and Student Services Suite
