Hinds Hall classrooms feature integration technology where all of the rooms technical capabilities are controlled through one teaching station panel.  The Innovation Studio, room 011 in the basement, has a different teaching station setup then the standard classrooms (117, 021, and 018).

The main variance in the classroom teaching station is that The Innovation Studio does not have a primary tower with a Local PC, DVD Player, and Document camera, instead the teaching station is only two panels, the Input Selector and the Video input panel, which are explained below.

Extron TouchPanel System Settings

Main Display Controls

  • Power - Main power controls for the projector display at the front of the room.
  • Main Display Settings - The options here are PC Monitor Display, HDMI, and 5 alternative HDMI options with ports throughout the room. Touch any of these while highlighting your desired display above (Left/Projector/Right) to change.
  • To ALL - By touching this option, the display/volume settings currently selected will be pushed TO ALL other display settings on this Extron system.

If video is not outputting and you have consulted the above options, make sure video mute is NOT highlighted.

Volume Settings

  • Main Volume Settings - Up and Down arrows will raise volume for the speakers throughout the classroom.

If audio is not outputting, make sure mute is NOT highlighted.

Teaching Station Controls

  • System Utilities  Select this option to open up the following display.

  • Teaching Station Monitor - Similar to the above display options, these will change the output of the monitor on the teaching station relative to the highlighted option.
  • Left/Right Front/ Right Middle - Selecting the options below these headings will change the display of the mobile monitors located throughout the room.

Extron Panel (Back of Classroom)

The Extron Panel has been broken down and labeled below.

To operate the projector, first hit the "ON" button in the Display controls.

Then select your video input, either laptop, AUX Video, or YUV VID.

NOTE:  There is NO Local PC Connection in 011.

Finally, set the classroom volume to the preferred level by moving the volume knob to a comfortable level.

The Video Input Panel

011 does feature a second panel, located to the left on the teaching station, which is where the physical connection for the devices to be projected are located.

If the desired input is a laptop attach the VGA and audio connections to your laptop, and select "Laptop" on the Extron Video Input Selection.

The AUX Video and HD Component inputs can connect electronics which have Auxilery or HD Component video outputs (Most DVD players, VCRs, Video Cameras, video game systems etc.)

  • The AUX Video input has three connections, Video (yellow) and Audio (white and red - for left and right, respectively).
  • The HD Component input has 5 connections, Video (Red, Green, and Blue - located on the top) and Audio (red and white, located at the bottom)

Connect all of the wires into their respective input ports in order to project the device over the main projector.

Select "AUX Video" on the Extron Panel for an AUX VIdeo Connection

Select "YUV VID" on the Extron Panel for an HD Component Connection.

The volume of input devices can be controlled or muted through the volume settings in the upper left corner of the Video Input Panel.
