Once you are in your course, click the Content tab located in the top horizontal menu of the page.  If your course is empty, the Course Content page indicates this and presents you with two button options: Add Content, and Auto-Generate Modules. 

Select the Auto-Generate Modules button to access the Blackboard Learn Ultra AI Design Assistant tool.

If this is a new, blank course with no content added yet, you will see a button at the bottom of the Course Content area labeled "Auto-Generate Modules" (see right image)

If you have already added other content to the course, click the icon near the middle of the Course Content list to open the add content menu, and select "Auto-Generate Modules." 

Clicking on the Auto-Generate Modules button will open the Auto-Generate Learning Modules page. On this page there are some key sections that you interact with to better generate modules you are seekingthe left side of the page is a menu bar labeled "Define Learning Modules" where you can set the parameters for the modules you want the Design Assistant to generate.

  The text-entry box prompts you to enter the course description or the learning objectives.

  You can type in the box a brief description of the course or enter one or three learning objectives you have designed

  The description can be formatted however you prefer - try copying the relevant information about your course topics and learning objectives from your course syllabus to get started, then refine as necessary. 

• Title prefix:

  This drop-down menu provides you options on chunking your course content.

  For instance you can generate the content by: unit, list, topic, chapter, week, or module. If you select the None category, it would generate the content in modules. 

• Include images: this area can be clicked to add related visual imagery to your modules. You can also choose to not click it if you do not want the AI to generate images.

• Complexity: this area showcases some cool features that help you modify your modules. There are 2 areas: Complexity and Number of Learning Modules. The Complexity tab ranges from low to high. You can shift the slider across your desirable range. The same application is needed for the Number of Learning Modules tab. The range moves from 1 to 20 possible chunks of your course item. For instance, if you need 10 modules, move the slider to the center of the bar. 

• You can list and number module titles by topic, unit, week, chapter, or module, or select "none" to leave auto-generated modules un-numbered.

• Include images: This box can be checked to add a header image for each module. Images are generated by the AI Design Assistant.

• Include descriptions: This box can be checked if you need to include a brief description with your module heading. Uncheck if this feature is not desirable.

• Complexity: Shift the complexity slider to alter the language of the module descriptions. "Low" complexity will produce descriptions that emphasize concrete vocabulary terms and learning objectives using simpler language, while "High" complexity will produce descriptions that emphasize more abstract or high-level learning goals and use more academic/technical language. 

• Number of Learning Modules: Shift this slider to set the number of modules to be generated. 

Once you have entered your course/content description and customized your desired settings, click the "Generate" button at the bottom to automatically create your modules.

Scenario 2: Generating Modules for an Existing Course

You have existing modules but want an update. Let us look at how you can access the AI tool to generate new modules. 

Once you are logged in, select the Courses tab on the left navigation menu on the institutional landing page  Select your desired  course. The Course Content page will open showing a list of your existing course content. 

Click the icon in the content area where you wish to add a new module(s).

If you are satisfied with the results of the auto-generated modules, check the box next to each module you wish to use and then click "Add to Course" in the lower right of the screen. Any modules left unselected will be deleted when you exit the generator. 

Once your modules have been exported, they will appear in the main Course Content area. Auto-generated modules can be edited just like other course content, including updating the titles/descriptions, changing the image, and adding folders, files, assessments, and other learning content within each module. 

1. Once you have scripted your learning outcomes/objectives for the course, type into the Description box those learning objectives (see right image). You can also type other information aside learning objectives.

2. Once the black Generate button was clicked, and based the description and settings indicated above, Ultra AI Design Assistant produced 5 modules with . Each module has a module title (see right image), a description of the module titlecontent, and related images based on the content of the entrya related image.
