Microsoft Word
This workshop covers the process of creating accessible documents in Microsoft Word. At successful course completion participants will be able to explain the importance of creating accessible documents and perform the steps necessary to create accessible Word documents:
- Utilize styles and alt text, descriptive links and simple tables when creating new documents
- Add accessibility features to legacy Word documents to make them accessible
- Utilize the Office accessibility checker
- Convert Word documents to accessible PDFs
- Utilize Adobe Acrobat DC’s accessibility checker

Evaluating and Repairing PDFs
This workshop will focus on incorporating accessibility features into existing PDF documents. It is always better to build as much accessibility into the source document (.docx, .pptx or .indd) as possible before converting to PDF. In situations where you don’t have the source document, you can build accessibility into an existing PDF using Adobe Acrobat DC. Techniques include:

ICT Accessibility Policy Overview and Resources | This session provides background on the Syracuse University ICT Accessibility Policy, the legal landscape and local impact, defines accessible IT, and provides an introduction to the various types of disabilities and assistive technologies in use on campus.
