A guide to connecting to AirOrangeGuest Network.

Description

This document describes how to connect to utilize the AirOrangeGuest wireless access. It describes how to create a sponsored guest account from a wired connection and how to create a self sponsored account from the AirOrangeGuest web page. Please note- facultyParents, alumni, and guests of the university are welcome to use AirOrangeGuest.  Additional details about guest wireless access can be found on the Visitor Wireless Guide.

  • Click on Create Guest Account on the upper left side (highlighted in above screen-shot) to view the Wireless Guest Account Creation page.
  • Enter the information needed.
  1. SU Sponsor ID: Enter Sponsor's SUID
  2. SU Sponsor Password: Enter sponsor's password.
  3. Email address or 10-digit Cell Phone Number: (no 1 is required)
    • Enter a phone number for text message
    • OR Enter Email address.
  4. New Password: Enter the self selected password.
  5. Re-Enter New Password: Confirm the new password by entering again.

  • Once this information is entered, click on Proceed. This would send the information to your guest.

  • With this information, your guest would be able to log-in through AirOrangeGuest SSID portal.
  • To access the internet, the guest can try hitting any web-page which would bring them to AirOrangeGuest SSID portal.
  • Enter the ID (cell-phone number) and the password (as per the text message received) and click on Log-in. This would connect you to the web-page.

Please note that a text capable cell phone is required for self-sponsoring. If you do not have access to a text capable cell phone you will need to get sponsored by an SU staff/student or faculty.

  • You can create self-sponsored log-in by clicking on Self-sponsored Guest Account Creation. Below window will appear:

  • Key in the required details. And hit Proceed. This would send the information to the cell-phone with which the guest can access the internet.
  • When the web browser is opened or web-page is browsed, it would take you to the below screen. (Wireless Guest Services Portal)

  • Enter the cell-phone number as the Guest ID and password received through the message. Read and tick the I accept terms of Services check box and hit Log-in.
  • This would allow the guest to have access to the internet.

Creating a Self-Sponsored Account

An email address (This can be a non-SU email). If you do not have access to an email account, you will need to get sponsored by an SU staff/student or faculty.


  • Connect to the AirOrangeGuest network.

    Select AirOrangeGuest SSIDImage Added

  • The self sponsor web page (shown below) should automatically appear.  If it does not open up a browser and it should be redirected to the self sponsor web page (shown below).
  • Enter your email in the space provided, accept the terms of use and click register.  (click any image to enlarge)

  • Review the information noting the expiration date and time.  Your email should receive an email containing the code within a few minutes. When it does click to continue.
  • Find the email that was sent to your email address and enter the password back onto the website when prompted to sign in.

Creating a Sponsored AirOrangeGuest Account

  • Go to https://guestadmin.syr.edu (you can do this from a wired or wireless connection) and login using your NetID and Password.  (click any image to enlarge)

  • Click on Create New Guest Account button in the middle of the screen to access the Wireless Guest Account Creation page.

  • Enter the requested information. Fields marked with an asterick * are required.

Guests Name

Company Name

Guests 10-digit Phone Number:  NOTE: Do not use any special characters in a phone number (only numbers).

Note the password provided

Enter any pertinent note information in the field provided.

  • Click on Create.  The web page will display account information and offer opportunities to print or transmit this information via a text message (SMS) or email.  Use this to transmit account credentials to the sponsored individual.

Sponsored Account User Instructions

Instruct the sponsored account user to connect to AirOrangeGuest as their wireless network and then open a browser.  The browser should automatically open to the https://guest.syr.edu login page.

Instruct the user to login using the 10 digit phone number as the login name and the password assigned during the creation process.

Now access using the credentials received in the processImage Added

They should now be able to access the internet using the AirOrangeGuest network.
