For students who are already within Falk College, the procedures to declare a major are listed under each department/program below.

Signature process for Major Declaration Form:

  1. Student

  2. Department/Program approval

  3. Student or department/program submits signed form to falkrecords@syr.edu

titleHealth and Exercise Science (HES)

3.2 cumulative GPA required; Interested undergraduate students must meet the following criteria- Completed a minimum of 15 credit hours at SU, completed EXE 195 with a B or better, provide a resume, and meet with HES Undergraduate Program Director, Dr. Tiago Barreira, by emailing him at tvbarrei@syr.edu.

Students who meet the criteria listed above will only be accepted into the Health and Exercise Science BS program on a space available basis, based on current program enrollment.

If approved after their appointment, students should complete the Declaration of Major form, obtain HES department signature, and email it to falkrecords@syr.edu.

Current Syracuse University students (including David B. Falk College of Sport students) interested in an Intra-University Transfer into Esports should review the transfer criteria below and complete an ESports Intra-University Transfer (IUT) Application .  For more information, please contact Olivia Stomski, Director Esports Academic Programs & Research, okstomsk@syr.edu

Intra-University Transfer Policy Deadlines are November 1 for Spring and March 1 for Fall entry.

The following criteria must be met and will be reviewed by the Esports IUT committee:

  1. Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

  2. To complete the eSports degree requirements within a four-year plan of study, SU students must have a minimum of five remaining semesters of study. 

  3. It is recommended that applicants have completed or be enrolled in SPM 205 when applying.

  4. Complete and submit an ESports Intra-University Transfer Application.

  5. Submit a resume.

  6. Submit a two-to-three-page type-written essay explaining:

    • academic interest in Esports

    • desired track of study (i.e. business & management, communications, or media & design)

    • prior Esports industry experience

    • sport-related volunteer and/or community service work

    • internship experience

  7. A personal interview with the Esports Intra-University Transfer Committee may or may not be arranged by the department program after the IUT application deadline.

While careful consideration will be given to all students who meet the outlined criteria, acceptance into eSports can only be granted on space availability based on current enrollment.

For students who are outside of Falk College and would like to apply to declare their major within Falk, they must do an Intra-University Transfer (IUT).
